Have You Played… The Sims Castaway Stories?

The Sims Castaway Stories

was one of The Sims Stories series (which included Life and Pets as well as Castaway). These came out around the same time as The Sims 2, as a range of Sims games that were made to be more laptop friendly. For me, though, these Sims Stories games were the answer to my lack of Sims Urbz. A single sim, story led, Sims game.

Cheers! Landlord's Super has entered early access

Oh, it’ll be a beaut once it’s done. On completion, Landlord’s Super promises a mundane fantasy of construction and socialising in your own dismal slice of English decline – seasonal changes, health concerns, rental markets, union interferences and all. But those frivolities can wait. Launching today in Steam Early Access, the Landlord’s offering the simpler pleasures right now. Home renovation, and getting absolutely knackered down the local.

Gun Jam is a rhythm-murder mashup from the developer of Q.U.B.E

Even this early in development, Gun Jam looks ace. It’s Thumper with guns. It’s Doom Eternal played to the beat of its soundtrack. A metronome deathmatch. After a brief tease on Twitter lead to a collective response of “hell yeah!”, Gun Jam has made the leap from concept to real, actual game – with devs Jaw Drop Games announcing their beat-blasting shooter earlier this week.

Doom Eternal guide: top 20 tips for demon slaying, how to kill Marauders

Doom Eternal guide

Doom Eternal still is a very, very good shooter, though there are some key differences between this one and the one that came out in 2016. If you’re still getting to grips with the game, I’ve listed my top tips for shooting all the demons and some stuff on exploring levels.

7 things I demand from Assassin's Creed Valhalla

I think we probably all have a game, be it franchised or not, that holds a special place in our heart. In my case, one of my ride or die games is historical stab-fest Assassin’s Creed. Every time a new one comes out, I will get it and play it to the (occasionally bitter) end.

I was overjoyed at the new life breathed into the series with Assassin’s Creed: Oranges. 2018’s Odyssey, featuring best woman in the entire world Kassandra, and all her giant pals, was even better. And so when Assassin’s Creed Valhalla was teased yesterday, you bet I sat and watched a man using Photoshop for 8 hours! So, my credentials as an AC fan established, here are my demands for Valhalla after watching the new cinematic trailer.

Now purple aliens are fighting GTA Online's green alien beatdown gangs

The hottest craze amongst GTA Online players is donning a green alien suit, picking up a baseball bat, and riding around with their alien friends in a van looking for people to beat up. In a game where death usually comes from some walloper on a hoverbike raining missiles, it’s delightfully silly. But aliens could never hold the streets of Los Santos forever. While attempts to fight them as Men In Black (in black suit with the black Ray-Bans on) haven’t really caught on, a surprising credible opposition has emerged: other aliens. Purple alien gangs have arrived, and they have come to rumble. I dropped into an alien street war myself today.

Doom Eternal weapons: how to master all the gun types

Doom Eternal weapon mod

Early on in Doom Eternal, you’ll pick up your first weapon mod. These are secondary fire effects and there are a maximum of two per weapon. You can swap them on the fly if you’ve unlocked both of them, so they can make a standard shotgun either throw sticky bombs or turn into a fully automatic shotgun. But there is a way to make them even better.

Valve Index review: the gold standard for VR headsets

Valve Index

When the Oculus Rift S offers a pretty darn great VR experience for £399 / $399, is there really any reason to spend upwards of a grand on a headset like the £919 / $999 Valve Index? Probably not if, like the rest of us, you don’t have a spare mattress full of cash squirrelled away in your back bedroom. However, if you do fall into the category of loaded individuals who want the absolute best VR headset you can buy today, then the Valve Index is definitely the headset to go for over the similarly priced HTC Vive Cosmos Elite.

EGX Rezzed 2020 is now cancelled

After optimistically delaying EGX Rezzed 2020 from March to July due to Covid-19 concerns, the organisers have now outright cancelled this year’s event. With the new coronavirus pandemic still running hot, the London games show from our corporate siblings will instead return next year. Folks who bought Rezzed tickets can transfer their ticket to the bigger EGX, which is still scheduled for September, or they can get a refund.

Fallout 76 weapons: where to find the bow in Wastelanders

Fallout 76 weapons

Fallout 76 has more stuff trying to kill you than ever before. It’s not just the local mutated fauna as other players are likely to shoot first. You’ll need good weapons to defend yourself: melee weapons, ranged weapons, maybe an explosive or two. Perhaps the only way to get an enemy off your back for good is to make them eat a Fat Man nuke.

Looks like Apex Legends is about to reveal its next character

Exciting things are happening in Apex Legends – well, it’s exciting if you’re into the game’s lore at least. This week, Respawn have dropped a couple of tasty teasers on Twitter, as they do when something fun is about to be announced. It all looks to be leading up the new video in the Stories From The Outlands series that’s dropping later today, which will hopefully reveal the next Legend fans have been speculating about since Revenant’s arrival – Loba.
