When it comes to flight sim flyables I’m not used to going without. When I stumble on an interesting aerodyne in a book, magazine, documentary, or museum, I know there’s a good chance that someone, somewhere, somewhen will have crafted a version of that aircraft for either Microsoft Flight Simulator, X-Plane or IL-2. The vast majority of my aviation cravings can be satisfied in a matter of minutes thanks to sites like www.flightsim.com, www.x-plane.org, and http://ift.tt/24oQsil. It’s very rare I encounter totally unsimmed sky steeds such as the unfortunate outcasts highlighted below.

Total Warhammer Chaos Faction Free For First Week Post-Release
News reaches us that Total War: Warhammer’s [official site] Chaos faction will be available for free during the first week post-launch. Previously, the faction were only offered for free to those who pre-ordered, a policy which we grumbled about. Now you’ll at least be able to read reviews and reactions before making a decision to spend your hard-earned without missing out on the free faction offer. There’s more footage of Chaos in action below, featuring the biggest hammer I’ve ever seen.

Oh Good, The Leprechaun Films Are On Steam
Good news, everyone: the entire back catalogue of Leprechaun movies is now available on Steam – including Leprechaun 4: Lost In Space. Truly, this is the best of all possible worlds. The first one’s even got a young Jennifer Aniston in, and she went on to make an infinite number of romantic comedies whose posters depicted her leaning against her handsome co-star, so you know it must be good.
Better (or not) news than that if you’re American: Valve getting into bed with Lionsgate means you can also rent or buy stuff like the Hunger Games, Twilight and Dredd films via Steam. But not if you’re in the UK. It’s rubber-faced Leprechauns all the way for you, sunshine.

Steam’s Anime Weekend Sale Discounts 200+ Games
I know some anime, but my knowledge of anime games is zilch. Is Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed a low or high point for the Hyperdimension Neptunia series? Is Recettear the best game about running an item shop, or simply the one that ‘crossed over’? Will Fairy Fencer F make me want to draw the curtains lest a neighbour see me playing it?
I’ve no idea, but this weekend’s Steam Anime sale offers opportunities to find out.

Darkest Dungeon Comes To Linux, Adds Town Events
Darkest Dungeon [official site] feels like it’s been a part of my life for a very long time but it only officially launched this January. A prolonged (and productive) period of Early Access made the actual release somewhat hazy in my mind. Even now, the game continues to grow and the latest update brings a fully supported Linux build and new town events. Developers Red Hook have also reiterated their commitment to improved modding support.

Love And Games: Long Distance Wizard-Killing
I was in a long distance relationship for over two years and gaming was incredibly useful for keeping in touch with my partner*. But not every game was a good fit, either because of relative game experience or temperament or any number of other things. Steam Launches Second Annual Anime Sale
I’ve struggled to name the current season. We have cherry blossoms and warm sunny days here in Scotland, then it snows and I’m lost for words. Help is at hand! Valve have kindly named another season for us. The Steam Winter Sale gave us a word for that cold time around Christmas, the Steam Summer Sale named those months when it’s too hot to stay indoors playing video games, and now we can name this weird transitional phase after Valve’s newly-annualised event: the Steam Anime Sale. We are currently in the middle of anime. It certainly does feel tsundere.
