Breach & Breach & Breach & Clear: R6 Siege’s Buck Buff

While Rainbow Six Siege [official site] may not be as serious a tactical shooter as some want, I did idly dream of an even less serious version playing up its destructible levels, with gunmen leaping through walls as if they were rice paper and stamping down through floors. I wouldn’t want Siege to become that game, but I am tickled by the latest patch putting one character slightly closer to that. Here, come see how Buck can now saunter through wall after wall with his mega-buffed wall-smashing shotgun.

The Best ARK: Survival Evolved Mods

Since storming the sprawling and ever-changing plains of Early Access last year, ARK: Survival Evolved [official site] has grown into a pretty comprehensive survival sandbox filled with crafting, cooking, foraging and, of course, frantically pegging it in the opposite direction from hungry dinosaurs. If you want to survive beyond the next localised extinction event, Matt’s beginner’s tips and resource guide make for essential reading, so too does his advice on the game’s islands, base building, and creature taming in turn.

But what about mods? How do you twist Studio Wildcard’s breakout open-world adventure playground to suit your own playstyle? Enterprising survivalists should check out the developer’s handy tutorial on how to create and distribute mods via the Steam Workshop over here, whereas those happy to enjoy the works of others should read on. These are the best mods for ARK: Survival Evolved.

Minecraft: Story Mode Ep 5 Decamps To Sky City

The fifth episode of the Telltale episodic adventure Minecraft: Story Mode [official site] is out now – it was due to be the final episode but Telltale are now going to do an extra three episodes as DLC not covered by the season pass. So a kind of epilogue, I guess? Or maybe a mini adventure? Or maybe we will watch a man patting trees down in order to make a table for a while?

The latter is probably why I am not working at Telltale as a story creator. ANYWAY. Episode 5 has a trailer:

Among The Sleep Devs Announce Adult Game, Mosaic

Among The Sleep developers, Krillbite Studios, have announced they’re working on Mosaic [official site] – a game which Killscreen describes as being about “the malaise and existential surreality of being an adult”. They also quote the artist Bjørnar Frøyse saying “It’s about being a small piece in this big machinery that you don’t feel anything for.”

So I guess… the absurdity of the mundane while working a white collar job? The point here is that it sounds like they’ve very much switched their focus from the childhood scares of Among The Sleep to adult fears.

Homefront: The Revolution Wants To Make America Great Again

Homefront: The Revolution [official site] is a surprisingly sophisticated game. New developer Dambusters has assembled a thoughtful open world shooter that mixes the DNA of a Far Cry gunfight with the dented, jury-rigged science fiction of a Metro 2033. On the strength of six hours play it’s streets ahead of the Kaos Studios original, despite the project’s changing hands twice in two years – airlifted from THQ’s collapse by Crytek, only to be torn from Crytek’s flailing grasp by co-publisher Deep Silver. But it does feel rather conservative for a game about toppling the Powers That Be.

Rocket League Starts Dunking In April

Psst. Pssst! Hey, hi, shh, get in here and close the door. This is actually Alice hacking into the account of a vanished RPS hero because I’m a mite flu-y and everyone in the RPS treehouse shouted at me to go back to bed. But they can’t reasonably expect me to resist a car nailing a sweet dunk. It is, of course, a peek at the upcoming basketball mode for carball game Rocket League [official site], which developers Psyonix have now announced will launch in April. Look, I’ll show you this short video loop and then schlep myself back to bed, I promise:

Origin Puts Unravel’s Yarny On Trial

Unravel [official site] is currently on trial over on Origin. I assume that means Yarny will finally have to answer for his woolen crime spree, taking to the stand as a jury of his peers (balls of yarn) listen to witness testimony and shake their heads at the awfulness of… Oh. Apparently it just means that you can try playing the first level of Unravel for ten hours as a kind of trial/demo thing.

I thought there was already a demo/trial for Unravel but after investigating further I must have confused that with the early trial thing EA run as part of their monthly Origin Access subscription program.
