Now that spring has well and truly sprung, most of the big gaming sales have all been gobbled up like leftover Easter eggs this week. Luckily, your deals herald has been hard at working finding the best PC gaming deals that are still going strong, including the best prices on new releases like Streets Of Rage 4 and Resident Evil 3, and giant savings on some classic oldies, like 50% off every Final Fantasy game on the planet and 40% off Football Manager 2020. This Bannerlord mod makes weapons actually hit people

While Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord‘s combat will never be mega-realistic, a new mod brings a few animation tweaks to make it look less cartoony. Where blades currently pass clean through a target’s body, looking like they should be cleft in twain, the Realistic Weapon Collision mod will make strikes get stuck a bit into their bodymeat or glance off their armour. The end result is weapons have more of a physical presence and less like they’re slashing about in Devil May Cry. A small but neat mod.

For the next fortnight I’ll be chronicling, with daily battle reports, The Flare Path’s sixth experiment in co-op play-by-comment wargaming. The concept for those who’ve not encountered communal Combat Mission before: I fashion a map and scenario for one of Battlefront’s ballistically rigorous turnbased battle sims, and you, issuing orders via comments, play said scenario against a CPU-controlled opponent at a rate of one turn/minute a day, until the big-boned diva warbles.
