Have your heart broken by a short-lived friend in RUNONCE
Usually, the last thing I do on a Sunday is clean up my documents from the week, organising everything I need and deleting everything I don’t. This week that’s going to be tricky, because I opened RUNONCE, the latest file-o-friend from Nathalie Lawhead. The little bunny within is currently stomping endearingly around my screen, asking me for my thoughts about death, and kindly requesting that I don’t close its program, because once I do, they’ll be gone forever.

Resident Evil 2 mods replace Mr. X with an equally terrifying Thomas The Tank Engine
Replacing all of Skyrim’s dragons with Thomas The Tank Engine was all fun and games, but I’m beginning to think we have accidentally unlocked a terrible curse, an urge in the heart of modders everywhere to insert him into more and more games. His latest appearance sees him replacing Mr. X in Resident Evil 2, and I think the horror of being relentlessly pursued may have become even creepier with the addition of this expressionless Engine.

Some unlikely games are becoming competitive through Twitch Rivals
I would love to be a fly on the wall for the planning meetings at Twitch Rivals. The livestreaming platform’s esports series keeps pushing the envelope into all sorts of weird and wonderful games and rulesets. Streamers have recently faced off in the arena modes of both Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering; they hosted two Apex Legends tournaments just one week after its release, and now they’ve branched out into competitive Stardew Valley.

Sling spells and solve riddles in You Are A Wizard
It’s nice when games make my job easy, so I’m pleased to say that You Are A Wizard does exactly what it says on the tin. It also does a whole bunch of things you probably wouldn’t expect, like raising questions about the nature of reality and grounding an otherwise whimsical dream adventure in a wider story about the relationships and families.
Oh, and you can collect a bunch of magic orbs that don’t do anything except give you the warm feeling of achievement for having found them. Here’s a trailer.

The Sunday Papers
Sundays are for crossing your fingers in hope of weather that’s as lovely as last weekend’s (our children are really going to hate us -ed.). Or not caring, because your main plan is to sit indoors watching Olivia Coleman do Oscar-worthy things. Or because you’re busy reading the best writing about videogames from the past week.
On PC Gamer, I thoroughly enjoyed Joe Donnelly’s tale of how a drug deal wound up with him awaiting an ambulance, and his eventual arrest, at the bottom of the Vinewood Hills sign. I’ll never have the patience to explore a GTA role-playing server for myself, but as long as Donnelly keeps doing his thing I don’t think I’ll need to.

Lawsuit claims Fortnite’s random loot boxes were ‘deceptive’
Epic Games’ lawyers seem to be being kept quite busy at the moment, with yet another lawsuit targeting the company. This latest filing, which targets the lesser played survival version of Fortnite, Save The World, alleges that the blind loot boxes (which were recently pulled from the game) were “a predatory scheme,” that “mercilessly…lured minors and other purchasers.”
