Kerbal Space Program Lead Dev Quits For Planets New

One thing I love about spaceflight simulator Kerbal Space Program [official site] is that I’m yet to find two players who’ve shared identical experiences. I’ve only ever played in short bursts myself, but mastering takeoff still heads my to do list. Others I’ve chatted with speak of grand space voyages and interesting discoveries. Heck, Adam even prefers the game as a spectator sport, which speaks volumes for its wide-reaching appeal.

Which is why it’s a surprise to learn that lead developer Felipe Falanghe has announced his departure from Kerbal Space Program after five and a half years of service.

Flock Lets Loose A Fleet Of Pretty Planes

Falling more in the realm of desktop toy than traditional game is Flock [Itch.io link] by Murray Campbell, but it’s something I’ve had running this morning and it’s generated a low visual hum of contentment from my second monitor when I switch back to it between emails.

It starts as a bloom of tiny planes, emanating from a central point and leaving trails as they bounce between the sides of the screen.

Ad Block: Minecraft Forbids “Building Promotions”

Just typical. We’ve spent the past six years pouring all of Rock, Paper, Shotgun’s profits into the creation of an endless Horace statue stretching far beyond the Far Lands in Minecraft and now we’ll need to blow it all up. That’s because Mojang have updated their commercial guidelines to say that it’s no longer acceptable for companies to “build or commission others to build, a Minecraft mod, map or server that promotes or markets unrelated products or services in playable form.”

The Elder Scrolls Online Gets Dark Brotherhood DLC

If I’m honest I’d totally forgotten that The Elder Scrolls Online [official site] is a thing that still exists. ZeniMax haven’t, though. In fact they’ve just launched the latest DLC for the MMORPG: Dark Brotherhood.

If you have even a passing familiarity with Elder Scrolls games you’ve probably worked out that the Dark Brotherhood stuff is about trying to join the franchise’s guild of assassins:

Her Story, Read Only Memories & Cibele For $1 In Humble Narrative Bundle

Wowee, isn’t this a nice little surprise to help us shake off the Tuesday blues? The latest Humble Bundle – Humble Narrative Bundle – has kicked off and, as always, the first tier is in familiar “pay what you want” format, with Steam keys costing a minimum of $1. Thing is, this particular collection’s premier platform features one-time RPS Game of the Month and FMV Game of 2015 Her Story, cyberpunk retro point-and-clicker Read Only Memories, and Nina Freeman’s lovely semi-autobiographical adventure Cibele. Based on those alone this is probably my favourite bundle yet, but there’s more.

ELEX: Trailer & Details On Risen Dev’s New Action RPG

“Eclectic, Lavish, Exhilarating, Xenial”, was how Risen and Gothic developers Piranha Bytes described their forthcoming post-apocalyptic open world RPG ELEX [official site] when they announced it last year. I reckon they were being purposefully tongue-in-cheek, but either way we didn’t have all too much to go on back then beyond the initial idea.

Fast forward the better part of a year, and a website overhaul, a load of new info and a fresh “mood” trailer now offer us a better understanding of what it’s all about. Observe:

Sol Trader is Elite vs Dwarf Fortress; Out Next Week

“f you don’t want to play Sol Trader, I’m afraid we can’t be friends any more,” wrote Adam last year. Now it’s your chance to make or break a friendship with our most devout strategy enthusiast, as “Elite, Asteroids & Dwarf Fortress” fusion Sol Trader is finally due for release, just a few days from now.
