Fallout 4: Hazmat, Will Travel

Continuing a perma-death diary in Fallout 4, in which I begin with absolutely nothing other than a plan to to voyage around only the outermost periphery of the world.

Heading back towards the Deathclaws isn’t actually any kind of problem, as I can stay in the water and hug the coastline until they’re out of sight. As soon as I emerge onto the shoreline, the temptation to get into more trouble appears: a huge asylum, replete with unnecessarily sinister statues stuck to its walls.

Ridealong: The EVE Online Invasion of H1Z1

Ridealong is a new monthly feature where Brendan travels deep into game worlds to meet, question and journey with the inhabitants that dwell within. This week, the EVE Online pilots that are plundering H1Z1.

The Goons are invading. They’re coming over the top and killing everyone in sight, without remorse, without even a word of warning. But this isn’t an invasion into one of the unruly star systems of EVE Online, the usual scene you picture when you think of the brusque citizens of Something Awful. This is an invasion into an entirely different game. The Goonswarm has spread to H1Z1.

League Of Legends: Illaoi, The Kraken Priestess

While searching RPS for something I found out that we never covered the addition of Illaoi, The Kraken Priestess to the League of Legends [official site] roster. I knew I shouldn’t have taken a holiday. Just think of the “sucker punch” remarks we all missed out on as a result. Disaster.

ANYWAY. I guess I COULD have left the news alone given it was weeks ago now, but it involves a beefy Kraken Priestess who goes around leaving aggressive spectral tentacles all over the place. Quite frankly it ticks all my boxes and I want to read about kraken priestesses for half an hour so let’s call this “news” and not look too hard at things like champion reveal dates.

Valhalla Hills Has Built Its Village Outside Early Access

Valhalla Hills [official site] is a settlement-building game in which you must lead your viking tribe back into Odin’s warm embrace by building upon and harvesting from procedurally-generated worlds. It looks like the early Settlers games, all green grass and mostly-peaceful building. It’s now exited Early Access after a brief stint and is available to buy from both Steam and GOG.

Mechanical Starfish: DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours

DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours [official site] is a very excitable name. If it’s trying to communicate anything at all, perhaps it is that some people are attempting to save the DARIUSBURST Chronicle. Presumably that’s a sort of Lindisfarne Gospels for the sci-fi sea monstrosity world of Taito’s long-running series of shoot ‘em ups. Or maybe it’s just an exclamation of pure joy. DARIUSBURST Chronicle Saviours certainly looks like a joyous thing – it’s an enhanced and expanded version of the last full-fat Darius game, and it’s coming to PC via Steam on December 4th.

GOG Winter Sale Now On

Lawks, the autumn sales only just ended! Or… were they Thanksgiving sales? Black Friday? Cyber Monday? I’m confused by these American consumebrations coming over here, telling us to crush people to death. Anyway, point is, GOG today launched their winter sale. It is definitely winter and that’s definitely a sale, so I can understand this.

If you were only of the folks grumbling that Steam’s sale was BORING without daily deals and things to check on and cross-check and be confused by, you’ll be delighted with this. You can even pay £1.99 for a go on a video game lucky dip!
